The technique should follow the plan.
FUE describes the extraction of individual follicular units. DHI is commonly used to describe an implantation approach. Neither label can answer suitability on its own, especially when textured hair and long-term donor planning are part of the conversation.
What the assessment should consider
- The characteristics of your donor hair and scalp.
- The area to be restored and the density goal.
- The way grafts need to be placed for a natural direction and hairline.
- Your recovery expectations and the clinic’s follow-up structure.
Do not let a technique label make the decision for you.
A good consultation explains the reasoning in plain language. It should not treat FUE or DHI as a badge of quality, or promise that one is automatically the best approach for every Afro-textured hair type.
The right technique is the one that fits a careful, medically appropriate plan—not the one with the loudest marketing.
